Plot
In "Down Periscope," unconventional Navy Lieutenant Commander Tom Dodge, a talented yet rebellious officer, hopes to finally command a nuclear submarine and redeem his tarnished reputation. However, his adversary, Admiral Graham, is determined to thwart him, assigning Dodge to the outdated and barely seaworthy diesel submarine, Stingray. Compounding the challenge, Dodge is stuck with a crew of eccentric misfits known for their blunders. As they prepare for an important war game, Dodge finds himself labeled as the "enemy," tasked with the daunting mission of facing off against the elite forces of the U.S. Navy.
