Rip Torn
Elmore Rual "Rip" Torn Jr. (February 6, 1931 – July 9, 2019) was an accomplished American actor whose extensive career spanned over six decades. He gained widespread recognition for his memorable performances, particularly as Zed in the beloved Men in Black series from 1997 to 2002, and as the eccentric Patches O'Houlihan in the cult classic Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story in 2004.
Torn's remarkable talent earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 1983 film Cross Creek. He was also celebrated for his portrayal of Artie, the producer, on the critically acclaimed television series The Larry Sanders Show. During his time on the show, he received six Emmy nominations, ultimately winning one in 1996. His comedic prowess earned him an American Comedy Award for Funniest Supporting Male in a Series, along with two CableACE Awards for his outstanding contributions. Furthermore, Torn was nominated for a Satellite Award in 1997, further solidifying his status in the entertainment industry.
