Plot
As World War I concludes, young Italian soldiers return to their impoverished hometown of San Giovanni Rotondo, a place steeped in violence and under the thumb of the church and affluent landowners. Families are shattered, their men, though victorious, are deeply scarred. Amidst this turmoil, Padre Pio arrives at a secluded Capuchin monastery, bringing with him a powerful presence and visions of divine figures. The atmosphere thickens as Italy approaches its first free elections, culminating in a catastrophic event that reshapes history and reflects the profound struggles of the time.
