Plot
During the Nazi occupation of France, a notorious thief and murderer narrowly escapes execution when a bombing hits the prison. However, his freedom is short-lived as the inspector who originally arrested him quickly apprehends him again. Terrified of the guillotine, the convict devises a daring scheme. He persuades the inspector to assist him in rescuing 100 French hostages captured by the Gestapo after a sabotage incident. To execute this plan, he intends to confess as the saboteur and face a firing squad, turning his death into a means of liberation for the imprisoned men.
