Plot
Joe Keegan, a stand-up comedy veteran with dreams of stardom, has faced countless setbacks, including a recent mishap with a heckler that left him injured. His friend Kenny offers him a shot at redemption: an audition for 'The Tonight Show' at a small bar in Pine Lake, Wisconsin, the hometown of talent scout Harvey Skorik. Despite his hesitation, Joe heads to Wisconsin, only to face disaster on stage thanks to a sabotaging emcee. However, his luck begins to change when he reconnects with his inspiring former English teacher, Molly Mahoney, who is also seeking direction in her life.
