Christopher Kirkley's "Sahel Sounds" project takes viewers on a captivating journey through the Sahel region of Africa, where he seeks out extraordinary musicians with distinctive sounds. Operating an independent label, Kirkley embraces the raw, often low-quality audio that reflects the authenticity of these artists. The documentary chronicles his efforts in securing fair agreements with musicians and producing vinyl records. Additionally, it showcases Kirkley organizing European tours, featuring talented artists Mamman Sani and Mdou Moctar, both of whom he discovered in Niger, highlighting the rich cultural tapestry of the Sahel's music scene.
