Shiraz: A Romance of India (1928)

Plot

Set against the backdrop of the Mughal Empire, a poignant romance unfolds as Selima, a princess foundling raised by a potter, navigates her tumultuous fate. Abducted and sold into slavery, she captures the heart of Prince Khurram, who later becomes Emperor Shah Jehan, much to the jealousy of the scheming Dalia. When Selima's brother, Shiraz, faces a deadly punishment for trying to rescue her, a pendant reveals her royal lineage, leading to her freedom and marriage to Khurram. As Empress Mumtaz Mahal, she inspires the creation of the Taj Mahal, a testament to their enduring love after her untimely death in 1629.
