Plot
Aimless Frenchman Edouard Binet has spent years wandering North Africa and is en route to Belgium when he encounters Sylvie Baron. He introduces her to wealthy Egyptian Nemrod Lobetoum, sparking a deep romance between them that ignites Edouard's jealousy. Shortly after, Edouard shows up at Sylvie's mother's boarding house, bloodied and disheveled. Following Nemrod's mysterious murder on a train in France, suspicion falls on Edouard. While Sylvie grows increasingly wary of him, her mother, Mme. Louise Baron, surprisingly sides with Edouard, complicating the already tense situation.
