Plot

Aviation pioneer John Montgomery, portrayed by Glenn Ford, faces skepticism from friends and family as he embarks on his dream of flight in 1883. Despite their doubts and concerns over his father’s political career, Montgomery constructs a functional glider. His education at Santa Clara University brings support from Jesuit mentors. An earthquake devastates his promising airplane model, yet a previously overlooked gold-sorting machine offers a potential financial lifeline. However, Montgomery soon finds himself entangled in expensive legal battles over his invention, testing his resolve and passion for aviation.
