Plot
Adam Verver, a wealthy American in London, is devoted to his daughter Maggie. She marries the financially struggling Prince Amerigo, unaware that he is entangled with her best friend, Charlotte Stant. Charlotte harbors feelings for Amerigo and keeps their affair hidden from Maggie, who unknowingly introduces her father to Charlotte, hoping to secure her happiness.
