Plot

Set in 1665 New France, Joseph Côté escapes the gallows by fleeing from prison. To evade capture by colonial soldiers, he disguises himself as a Jesuit and seeks refuge in Beaufort, where men await the arrival of "daughters of the king"—French women sent to marry settlers. Chaos ensues when Joseph discovers the village is plagued by werewolves. Complicating matters is his unexpected love for Marie Labotte, an overlooked "daughter of the king." As he strives to safeguard their lives, Joseph finds himself battling the supernatural forces threatening their future together.
