A Touch of the Poet (1974)

Plot

Cornelius "Con" Melody, a once-noble Irish tavern owner in New England, clings to memories of his glorious past as a decorated British officer from the Napoleonic wars. Now living in poverty, he parades in his old uniform and schemes to exploit his daughter’s affection for the wealthy son of a local manufacturer. However, his daughter quickly perceives her father’s manipulative ways and starts devising her own plans. As their ambitions clash, tensions rise, revealing deeper truths about love, pride, and the pursuit of a better life.
