Plot
In 1813 Portugal, a group of deserters led by Sharpe's nemesis, Obadiah Hakeswill, seizes two women, including the wife of a prominent English officer, demanding ransom for their release. Tasked with their rescue, Sharpe commands the 60th Rifles and a Rocket troop, but the mission becomes more perilous when he encounters a new adversary: the cunning French Major Pierre Ducos. As he confronts old grudges and fresh dangers, Sharpe must navigate treachery and warfare to save the hostages before it's too late.
