Plot
Bumbling lieutenant Peter Stirling, stationed at a U.S. Army intelligence office, receives an urgent coded message from his friend, Francis, a talking mule. The note warns that Francis is about to be sold at the naval base in Coronado, California. As Peter rushes to the train station, he encounters nurse Betsy Donevan, who mistakenly believes he is her shell-shocked brother, Navy boatswain Slicker Donevan. In a frantic attempt to remove his uniform, she soon discovers that Peter is not her brother but rather his doppelgänger, leading to a series of humorous misunderstandings.
