Plot

Makio Kōdai, a reserved 35-year-old novelist, faces a life-altering event when her sibling and their spouse tragically die in a car crash. At the funeral, she encounters her 15-year-old niece, Asa Takumi, who is now orphaned and vulnerable amidst insensitive relatives. Fueled by anger towards their thoughtlessness, Makio resolves to take Asa in.
