Brave New Land (2000)

Plot

Diogo, a talented cartographer and artist, embarks on a mission to map the new Portuguese territories in South America. Upon reaching the heart of the continent, he encounters vast wilderness and indigenous tribes with unfamiliar customs. Guided by the abrasive Captain Pedro, Diogo becomes unwittingly entangled in a violent incident that deepens his connection to this remote land. Meanwhile, Portuguese colonists strive to negotiate peace with the Guaicuru Indians, known for their exceptional horsemanship, but they soon discover that achieving harmony comes at a steep cost.
