Plot

Wealthy sportsman James Haggin, portrayed by Walter Pidgeon, resides in his expansive Quebec estate, Wintapi. His estate's handler, Émile Fornet (Émile Genest), along with his wife Therese (Janette Bertrand), serves as both cook and housekeeper. Eager to breed champion show dogs, Haggin acquires Red, a remarkable Irish setter who just triumphed at the Montreal Kennel Club show. As they nurture Red's potential, the relationships among the characters deepen, revealing the bonds that form in pursuit of excellence and companionship.
