Plot

Ema is a strikingly beautiful but naive young woman, captivating enough to cause accidents just by being nearby. In her early years, she weds Dr. Carlos Paiva, a family friend, despite feeling no romantic pull toward him. They settle in the valley of Abraham, where Carlos adores her but chooses to sleep in a different room, hoping not to disturb her when he returns home late. As time passes, Ema grows discontented with her marriage and seeks out a new romance to fill the void in her life.
