Gülizar (2004)

Plot

Gülizar, a stunning young woman from a rural village, finds herself unwillingly engaged to a local man at her family's insistence. While her fiancé travels to Istanbul to earn money for her dowry, a new teacher named İsmail arrives in the village, and Gülizar unexpectedly falls for him. They dream of a future together, but tragedy strikes when İsmail dies in an accident, leaving Gülizar heartbroken. Her fiancé eventually returns with the dowry, but as she silently grapples with her grief, Gülizar is compelled to marry him. Caught between tradition and her daughter's wishes, Gülizar's father faces a harrowing dilemma, as community customs dictate a dire consequence for Gülizar's honor.
