Plot

49 Up is the seventh installment in a groundbreaking documentary series that began over four decades ago. The project kicked off when Granada's World in Action team, driven by the Jesuit principle "Give me the child until he is seven and I will give you the man," interviewed a diverse group of seven-year-olds across England about their lives and aspirations. Michael Apted, who was a researcher during the initial film, has continued to revisit these individuals every seven years, capturing their journeys at ages 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, and now 49. In this latest episode, profound choices, surprising revelations, and a larger participation from the original group illuminate their thoughts on love, marriage, careers, class, and societal biases.
