After an eight-year hiatus, the New York City Ballet graces Paris with a captivating performance celebrating the works of three influential French composers: Charles Gounod, Maurice Ravel, and Georges Bizet. The program highlights Balanchine's innovative neo-classical style through four remarkable ballets that reflect his deep connection to France. Among these, the Walpurgisnacht Ballet, initially choreographed for Faust in 1975, later debuted independently in New York. Additionally, Sonatine, inspired by Ravel's music and created by French principals Violette Verdy and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, and La Valse, originally for the Ballets Russes, showcase Balanchine's artistic legacy.
