Plot

In July 1945, as World War II nears its end, Japan grapples with accepting the Potsdam Declaration amid relentless cabinet meetings that yield no consensus. The devastating atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki heighten the urgency of the situation. General Korechika Anami wrestles with the weight of his choices, while Emperor Hirohito expresses deep concern for his nation's future. Prime Minister Kantaro Suzuki presides over the tense discussions, and Chief Secretary Hisatsune Sakomizu observes helplessly. Tensions escalate when Major Kenji Hatanaka and fellow young officers oppose surrender, seizing the palace and radio station to prevent the Emperor's announcement of surrender.
