Plot

Set against the backdrop of Muntenia during the Phanariote era, Lady Ralu desperately seeks one million galbeni to acquire a coveted jewelry collection from Vienna. To fulfill her extravagant wish, the Phanariot ruler imposes the harsh "birul vacăritului" tax, further burdening the impoverished population. Meanwhile, Anghel Șaptecai leads a band of outlaws determined to reclaim the stolen galbeni from the oppressed villagers after the death of their leader, Captain Amza. Ultimately, Anghel is captured by Captain Mamulos, who condemns him to a dark fate in the pit.
