Plot

Kathy Morrison, a dedicated mother and advocate for a "color-blind" adoption initiative, longs for another biological child. However, her husband Pete, head coach of the Phoenix Suns, discovers he is unable to conceive. Initially resistant to the idea, Pete eventually agrees to adopt Frederic "Freddie" Wilcox, a Black boy, but his arrival stirs controversy within their community. Seeking to expand their family further, Kathy decides to adopt two more children: Quan Tran, a traumatized half-Vietnamese girl, and Joe, a Hopi boy. The blended family must navigate the challenges of their diverse backgrounds and learn to coexist.
