Plot

Amid the ruins left by recent earthquakes that have ravaged parts of Italy, this touching story follows Elia (Sergio Rubini), the last soul remaining in the abandoned town of Providence, which was devastated by a quake years ago. Elia refuses to leave, choosing instead to dwell in the memories of his late wife and their once-happy life together. While the rest of the townsfolk have relocated to new homes downstream, Elia occasionally receives visits from the local teacher, his friend Gesualdo, and the mayor. However, it’s an unexpected visitor who begins to transform Elia’s isolated existence.
