Plot

Kate, a savvy and fashionable woman, finds herself trapped in an abusive relationship with her violent boyfriend, Big Al, who sells firearms on the gritty streets of New York. After suffering a brutal attack fueled by his jealousy, Kate's confidence wanes. Support comes from three friends: Vic, who harbors romantic feelings for Kate; Reilly, who is torn between loyalty to Al and disdain for his brutality; and Liz, a counselor from a battered-women's program. As they contemplate drastic measures to free Kate, she grapples with fear and dependency. Can she escape Al's dark shadow?
