Plot
Clark, a biracial boy, faces the challenges of fitting in during the summer before sixth grade in a predominantly white town. To gain acceptance, he feels pressured to embody a stereotype of 'acting more black.' Meanwhile, his parents, Mack and Gina, urban intellectuals, grapple with their own difficulties adapting to small-town life. Ill-equipped for the unique challenges of their new environment, this close-knit family finds themselves at odds, trying to navigate their identities and relationships amid the stark contrasts of suburban culture. Their journey reveals the complexities of belonging and self-discovery.
