Plot

In "Hope Floats," Birdee Pruitt experiences a public humiliation when her best friend Connie reveals her affair with Birdee's husband, Bill, on live TV. Seeking a fresh start, Birdee moves back to her small Texas hometown with her daughter, Bernice. There, she encounters unsupportive old friends who revel in her misfortunes, save for her loyal friend Justin. As he assists her in rebuilding her life, a romantic connection begins to develop between them, offering Birdee the hope she desperately needs.
