Plot

Amelia, a talented violinist, faces the prospect of leaving the prestigious Brissac Academy of Music. To prevent her departure, Julius orchestrates a scholarship through his employee Tony, allowing him to accompany her to various musical events. Complications arise when Julius misses an engagement, prompting Tony to step in, leading him to mistakenly believe that he and Amelia are romantically involved. Meanwhile, Paul, their son, assumes the same, confused by Tony's financial support for Amelia. Adding to the drama, Amelia contemplates abandoning classical music for the allure of swing, influenced by her friends Dusty, Joy, and the band.
