Sidney Bracey (December 18, 1877 – August 5, 1942) was a talented actor who transitioned from his Australian roots to become a prominent figure in American cinema. Originally named Sidney Bracy, he was born in Melbourne, Victoria, into a family rich in the performing arts; his father was the renowned Welsh tenor Henry Bracy, while his mother, Clara T. Bracy, was an accomplished English actress. His connection to the entertainment industry extended to his aunt, Lydia Thompson, a well-known actress and dancer.

Bracey's career began in the 1890s with J.C. Williamson's comic opera companies in Australia. He made his Broadway debut in 1900, taking on the role of Yussuf in the inaugural American showing of The Rose of Persia at Daly's Theatre, New York. His journey then led him to England, where he starred as Moreno in the popular musical comedy The Toreador at the Gaiety Theatre in 1901. He later toured with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company and performed in several notable productions, including Amorelle and A Persian Princess.

Returning to Broadway, Bracey played Sir Guy of Gisborne in a revival of Robin Hood in 1912, which paved the way for his entry into film acting. Over his career, which spanned from 1909 to 1942, he appeared in 321 films, transitioning from silent movies to talkies. In 1916, he altered the spelling of his last name to "Bracey." Known for his distinguished presence, he often portrayed authoritative roles and was recognized as one of Hollywood's most respectable butlers. Sidney Bracey passed away in Hollywood at the age of 64.
