Plot

Set against the backdrop of World War I in France, Major Brand leads the beleaguered 39th Squadron of the Royal Flying Corps, where young pilots risk their lives in battered aircraft. Despite the staggering loss of life, Brand struggles to convince the higher-ups of the dire situation. Tensions escalate with the insubordinate Captain Courtney, whose rebellious spirit becomes a challenge for Brand. However, Courtney's demeanor shifts dramatically when he unexpectedly takes command of the squadron, forcing all to confront the harsh realities of war while maintaining their composure amidst chaos.
