Plot
Polly Parrish, a department store clerk at Merlin's, becomes the center of a comical misunderstanding when she is wrongly identified as the mother of an abandoned infant. David Merlin, the store's owner, is appalled by Polly's apparent lack of maternal instinct and feels compelled to ensure that she and the baby remain a family.
