Plot

Set in the early 20th century, "Picnic at Hanging Rock" follows Miranda, a student at an all-girls boarding school in Australia. On Valentine's Day, the usually stern headmistress allows the students to embark on a picnic to the enchanting Hanging Rock, a striking volcanic formation. Ignoring the established restrictions, Miranda and a few classmates wander off into the mysterious landscape. As evening falls, the school staff is alarmed to discover that the girls, along with a teacher, have vanished without a trace, leaving an air of intrigue and unease in their wake.
