Plot
During the 1940s in Czechoslovakia, a dedicated nurse and her surgeon boyfriend become embroiled in a resistance group. Their world unravels when they are betrayed, prompting her lover to escape while she seeks refuge. A grateful patient, whom she once saved, offers her sanctuary in his isolated mountain village, a place seemingly frozen in time for 150 years. He proposes that she assume the role of his wife, allowing her to evade capture while forging an unexpected new life amidst the turmoil of war.
