At just 22, Annita Malavasi, known as “Laila,” became a formidable force in the Italian resistance during the German occupation of Italy in 1943. Navigating the rugged Apennines, she delivered vital intelligence, transported weapons, and engaged in fierce battles while also challenging the male-dominated environment of mountain villages. Over a year of relentless struggle propelled Laila to a leadership position, making her one of the few female commanders in the resistance. The film explores her journey and the experiences of fellow fighters Gina “Sonia” Moncigoli and Pierina “Iva” Bonilauri, highlighting a pivotal chapter in the fight for women's emancipation and Italy's liberation from fascism.
