Plot

A devastating flood ravages Costache's Romanian village, claiming his wife Maria and all their possessions. Taking refuge in a village shelter, Costache stubbornly clings to his land, determined to rebuild despite his neighbors' offers of assistance. His only connection to the outside world is his estranged son, Ticu, who now resides in Tokyo. When Ticu learns of his mother's death and his father's struggles, he returns with his Japanese wife and child, hoping to persuade Costache to leave. However, unresolved tensions and new familial dynamics complicate their reunion, forcing them to confront their past.
