Victor Rebengiuc, whose full name is Victor-George Rebengiuc, was born on February 10, 1933, and is a prominent Romanian actor renowned for his work in both film and theater, as well as his activism within civil society. Since 1957, he has been an integral part of the Bulandra Theater company, where he has performed in over 200 roles. His career took off with his remarkable performance in Liviu Ciulei's film, *The Forest of the Hanged*, which established him as a significant figure in Romanian cinema. He gained widespread recognition for his role in Stere Gulea’s 1986 film, *Moromeţii*, and collaborated with notable directors such as Dan Piţa and Lucian Pintilie on various acclaimed films.

Rebengiuc is also celebrated for his impactful stage performances, having worked with esteemed directors including Radu Penciulescu and Andrei Şerban. He was previously married to actress Anca Vereşti and is currently married to his Bulandra colleague, Mariana Mihuţ.

His experiences living under the communist regime have shaped his strong anti-communist views, and several of his films from the 1980s faced censorship. Since then, he has been an outspoken critic of political forces he perceives as continuing the legacy of communism, advocating for a thorough condemnation of the regime while supporting various non-governmental organizations.
