Plot
In Northern Italy, Francesca and Walter are small-time crooks trying to evade the law. To escape the heat, Francesca infiltrates a group of women who work in the rice fields. There, she encounters the alluring rice worker, Silvana, and Marco, a soldier about to be discharged. Walter tracks her down to the fields, leading to a tangled web of theft, romance, and deadly intrigue as the four become entwined in each other's lives.
