Unfortunately, Brancato fell into addiction and became embroiled in a tragic incident involving the death of a New York City police officer during a drug-related crime. Although he was acquitted of murder, he served eight and a half years for attempted burglary. While in prison, he found the strength to overcome his addiction and now seeks to rebuild his life in the unpredictable entertainment industry.
