Set in Santiago, Chile, during the contentious Marxist era of President Salvador Allende, "Machuca" follows the story of Father McEnroe, who champions progressive ideals by implementing a program at the elite St. Patrick's Catholic school that admits working-class children. Among them is Pedro Machuca, the son of a cleaner, who befriends Gonzalo Infante, a boy from a wealthy liberal family. Their friendship flourishes as they unite against societal norms, but the political turmoil escalates when General Pinochet's coup disrupts their lives, challenging their bond and the principles they once shared.
