Plot
Nina, an ambitious ballerina in a prestigious New York City company, dedicates herself entirely to her art, living under the watchful eye of her former ballerina mother, Erica. Their intense relationship fuels Nina's drive but also heightens her insecurities. When artistic director Thomas Leroy seeks a new lead for the upcoming production of Swan Lake, he sees potential in Nina, choosing her as the first pick to replace the seasoned prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre. As Nina strives for perfection, the pressures of her role begin to blur the line between reality and madness.
