Plot

Wealthy tycoon William van Luyn finds romance with his secretary, Joan Thayer, and they quickly marry. While Joan's family, proud members of the "great middle class," celebrates her happiness, they are hesitant to accept help from William. As he moves in with them, their discomfort grows, leading to a series of humorous and tense interactions. Eventually, William decides to take matters into his own hands, prompting unexpected revelations and challenges that test the dynamics of love, pride, and social status within the household.
