Plot

"Better to be a clever fool than a foolish clever one." This vibrant adaptation of Twelfth Night showcases a memorable cast, weaving together themes of cruelty and humor, alongside the heartache of unreturned affection, complemented by some of Shakespeare's most beautiful poetry and melodies. The Globe Theatre brings back its acclaimed 2002 rendition with an all-male Original Practices cast, exploring the music, dance, and aesthetics of the early 17th century. Mark Rylance returns as Olivia, a decade after the play’s initial debut. Within Olivia's estate, two rival pursuits unfold: Orsino’s unrequited love for Olivia and the rebellion of her servants against the arrogant steward, Malvolio. When Orsino enlists the disguised Viola to win over Olivia, a series of bittersweet events ensue.
