In 1899, a filmmaker positioned his camera on a trolley crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, capturing the journey from Manhattan to Brooklyn in three 90-foot film rolls, later titled Across the Brooklyn Bridge. To celebrate the reopening of the Museum of Modern Art, avant-garde director Bill Morrison reimagined this historic footage. He ingeniously combined the original scenes into a captivating split-screen presentation, offering a fresh perspective on the iconic crossing and bridging the past with contemporary artistry.
