Plot

Mr. Hedges, an idealistic yet somewhat naive teacher, champions his unruly Class 5C to join a school camping trip, despite past refusals. Once they arrive, he pursues the affections of a local barmaid while the students engage in their usual antics. Tensions rise when they clash with a group of posh children, leading to a false allegation that complicates matters. A mystery involving missing money is resolved when Mr. Hedges places his trust in the class. As the trip culminates in a dance, he finds himself unexpectedly drawn into a romantic situation with Miss Cutforth, much to his dismay.
