Plot
Amidst the backdrop of post-war Korea's rapid modernization, a father struggles to support his four children while operating a horse-drawn cart, a relic in a city overtaken by automobiles. His eldest son faces despair after failing the bar exam twice, casting doubt on his dream of becoming a lawyer. The eldest daughter, trapped in a marriage with an abusive partner, remains mute, while the younger daughter pretends to be a wealthy university student in her quest for a better life. Meanwhile, the youngest son engages in petty theft, further complicating their already challenging existence.
