Plot
In "Onibaba," a woman and her daughter-in-law fend for themselves in a treacherous swamp while her son Kichi is off to war. They resort to ambushing wandering samurai, selling their possessions to survive. Their world shatters upon learning of Kichi's death, but the widow soon finds solace in an affair with Hachi, a neighbor who escaped the conflict. The mother vehemently opposes this relationship and, unable to win Hachi for herself, attempts to intimidate her daughter-in-law using a terrifying mask taken from a fallen samurai, leading to a chilling confrontation.
