Plot

Set against the backdrop of the Civil War, a group of Confederate soldiers breaks free from a Union prison and makes their way toward the Mexican border. In their journey, they encounter and murder a Union courier who carries the crucial news of the war's conclusion. Choosing to withhold this information, the captain leads his men onward, only to confront a Union search party that remains oblivious to the war's end. Tensions rise as the two sides clash, unaware that the conflict they are engaged in is already over.
