Plot
Mary Rutledge makes her way westward, only to discover her fiancé has been murdered. Seeking refuge, she takes a job spinning the roulette wheel at the bustling Bella Donna gambling house owned by Luis Chamalis in 1850s San Francisco. There, she meets and falls for Jim Carmichael, a miner who unwittingly loses his gold dust to her at the table. As their romance blossoms, Chamalis becomes dangerously fixated on Mary, threatening Jim’s safety and forcing her to confront the perils of love amidst a world of greed and violence.
