Roger Gray

Roger Gray (May 26, 1881 – January 20, 1959) was an American actor who made his mark during the formative years of the sound film era. Hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, Gray embarked on his acting journey relatively late, securing his first significant role in the 1930 musical film Hit the Deck. Over the span of his 14-year career, he appeared in more than 75 films, often in small or supporting roles that showcased his talent.

Gray's filmography includes notable works such as the operetta The Merry Widow (1934), the film adaptation of Victor Hugo's Les Misérables (1935), the adventure drama Captains Courageous (1937), and the beloved adaptation of Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1939). He also featured in the comedy Road to Singapore (1940), which was part of the popular Road to... series. His final film appearance came in 1943, where he played a minor role in Redhead from Manhattan.

Throughout his personal life, Gray experienced two marriages, both of which ended in divorce. He passed away in a hospital in Los Angeles, and following his death, his remains were cremated at the Hollywood Memorial Cemetery, now known as Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Despite his relatively brief career, Gray contributed to the legacy of early cinema with his memorable performances.
